Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Halver is a 100% free, community item-sharing app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
Information we collect
- Account details — your name, email address, and (optionally) a profile photo.
- Location — your approximate area, used to show nearby items and set pickup locations. We use your device location only while you use the app; we do not track location in the background.
- Content you create — item listings (photos, descriptions, pickup details), requests, ratings, and chat messages with the other party in an exchange.
- Activity — items shared/received, reputation points, and in-app credits (Care and Halver Coins), used to run the sharing system.
- Device push token — an anonymous identifier used to deliver notifications.
How we use your information
- To operate the app: showing nearby items, matching requesters with hosts, arranging pickups, and running the free credit system.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing listings (including an automated image check) and handling reports of abuse.
- To send you relevant notifications (requests, pickup times, messages). You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal data. Limited information is shared only as needed:
- With other members — when you exchange an item, the other party sees your name, profile photo, reputation, and the pickup details you provide. Your email and exact home address are never shown publicly.
- Service providers that help us run the app: our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our push-notification delivery service (Expo), a location autocomplete service (Google), and an automated content-moderation provider that reviews listing images (Anthropic). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
- Legal — if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal profile is removed and your content is anonymised. See Delete your account.
Your rights and choices
- Access & deletion — you can delete your account and data at any time from Profile → Manage account → Delete account, or by emailing us (see below).
- Notifications — control these in your device settings.
- Location — you can revoke location permission in your device settings; some features will be limited.
Children
Halver is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
